Applications for Quicktime VR technology.
Quicktime VR has great "Show-Off" potential. Companies can easily impress their clients with "Virtual Tours" of their office space and facilities. Any showroom can be displayed all over the world via the Internet. Hotels, Lodges and Guest Houses can provide clients with interactive photo-real views of their rooms and recreational facilities.
As illustrated in the Quicktime VR Virtual Tour example (above), it is possible to get a good quality 360 degree panorama at around 150 - 350 Kb per movie. The possibilities don't end with small (fast loading) files on the Internet, as the original panoramic photographs are large enough to be used in Print, Multi-Media, DVD, Television and Film.
The same photographic techniques and software that is required to generate Quicktime VR, can also generate flattened cylindrical panoramic photographs, Shockwave, VRML, and be adapted to generate HDRI (High Dynamic Rage Images) for 3D Computer Graphics (16 bit/channel, at over 7000 pixels horizontal resolution).
